What are you talking about? People do have the choice, they just make it when they buy Windows. What's the point of offering them choices that they can't actually take advantage of?

Your argument is flawed like almost every person I see make an argument here. Decrypting a DVD is entirely different than copying files from a disk and putting all but 1 on your hard drive. Technically it's illegal to since your breaking an encryption device using a tool that DeCSS which violates the DMCA. The config file in question isn't a copy protection scheme it's there to make it easier for users to install their operating system. A normal user would have no idea which version to pick so they set it to be 1 by default. An advanced user can modify that.This is no different than slipstreaming in updates into windows cds. It's entirely approved of by Microsoft. The renewal of your trial with the slmanager is readily available information on Microsoft's website and most likely in one of the help files some where on the machine.
