Difference between Reader and Acrobat
Acrobat updates are always MSPs. The only acceptable patch order is to install all MSPs in order. For example:

9.0 > 9.1 > 9.1.1 > 9.1.2 > 9.1.3 > 9.2 > 9.3 > 9.3.1 > 9.3.2 > 9.3.3 > 9.3.4 > 9.4 > 9.4.1 > 9.4.2 > 9.4.3 > 9.4.4 > 9.4.5
Reader updates can be MSP,Tiffany Heart, MSI,Tiffany Jewelry Sale, or EXE files depending on the download source and release type. Tailor deployments to current enterprise requirements. Enterprise consumers typically use the msp/msi installers from the enterprise FTP site at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/.

Overview for Reader updating
The Acrobat Enterprise Administration Guide and an Updating Quick Key are now available from the enterprise portal. Before continuing,UNESCO Chair in marine technology (847) UNESCO, read these documents and make sure that you understand which installers your setup requires. In general, Reader updates are as follows:
Incremental installers are MSP files (usually under 12 MB)
Full installers are MSI or EXE files (usually from 25 through 50 MB)
Some Reader quarterly updates are full installers.
Quarterly MSIs include updates back to the base release.
Quarterly MSPs include previous out-of-cycle patches released after the last quarterly. Therefore, quarterly updates can be applied on previous quarterly releases. Skip intermediate Out-of-Cycle releases.
Full Reader installers (MSIs) are available when the second version number increments.
Out of cycle MSP security patches include minimal or no functional updating with the intention to limit impact.

Administrative deployment
Administration Installation Point (AIP) deployments must not apply a quarterly update AIP in which a security update was the most recently applied update. Because a quarterly update includes the changes implemented in all recent security updates,Silver Tiffany Necklace, the quarterly update forcibly bypasses those updates entirely. To deploy a quarterly update from an AIP, create a AIP which includes only quarterly updates as follows:
    Acceptable:      Acrobat 9.0.0 -> 9.1.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.1.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.2.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.3 (Quarterly) ->  9.4.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.5 (Quarterly)
    Acceptable:      Acrobat 9.0.0 -> 9.1.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.1.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.2.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.3 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.3 (Security) -> 9.4.4 (Security)
    Unacceptable:  Acrobat 9.0.0 -> 9.1.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.1.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.2.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.3.3 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.0 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.1 (Security) -> 9.4.2 (Quarterly) -> 9.4.3 (Security) -> 9.4.4 (Security) -> 9.4.5 (Quarterly)
Note: Attempting to create an AIP using the last configuration fails to prevent the use of updates that Adobe does not recommend.
For creation and patching of Administrative Installation Point(AIP) refer the Enterprise Administration Guide (Section 4.2, Page 42)
Always change directories and run the patches FROM the AIP directory.
Work around for AIP installations when the last applied update was a security update
To successfully deploy a quarterly update onto these user systems, add the msiexec.exe "v" option to the command line. Using "vomus" causes the MSI to run from the source AIP and recache the user's local MSI for future changes or repair. This method is the most trustworthy for deploying updates of this nature. It updates user machines,Tiffany Pendant, but does not update the AIP itself. An example syntax is:
     msiexec /i <path of msi on AIP> REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus
