College education a path leading to better jobs

The survey was conducted by Southwest University.

The survey shows that over 40 percent of the interviewed say their No.1 purpose of going to college is to realize their self-satisfaction. 4.5% of them attribute their direct motivation of college study to "the possession of a private car and an apartment", 2.5% say they want to acquire “higher social status and more social power”, and 6.5% indicate that they go to college to “enrich the life content and better the life quality”.

By sharp contrast, over 50% of the respondents hold the view that it is the social responsibility concerned with the country, the family and the nation that should come first in mentioning the motivation of college studies.
