He would eventually be selected and would agree to play for the Giants. He spent the 2006 season in the Minor Leagues and had really become successful. He started most of that season and was showing his potential in the 2007 season with the Giants organization. The message that he was sending out was that he was going to be a force to reckon with and it proved that so far the Giants made an excellent pick.
The 2008 season was a successful season for Lincecum but not so much for the Giants as they did not make the post-season but he would obtain his first Cy Young Award in his career. It continues to further prove that he would be a very successful pick for the Giants. Other teams are probably kicking themselves for not getting him or for that matter, not being able to sign him. It has to be considered a blunder for others but a huge hit when it came to the Giants.
With the following season, he would go on to continue to pitch effective. He would once again earn the Cy Young Award giving him back-to-back Cy Young Awards. The only thing that probably would have made his season even better would have been a post-season birth and that would really make it better because the goal is about winning the World Series.
The 2010 season would have to be considered extremely rewarding for him. The Giants would shock the world and would overtake the Padres to claim the NL West Championship. They defeated the Atlanta Braves and would then shock the world by beating the Philadelphia Phillies. Unless the Giants collapse, they are probably going to win the World Series. He pitched well in the NLDS and NLCS respectively. He got a lot of run support in the World Series despite not pitching as well as people had seen him in the past.
For his career, there could be many more awards and even All Star appearances in the future. Then again, he could also win multiple World Series titles with the Giants presuming he stays there for a long time and doesnt want to leave at all. The sky is the limit and anything can happen in the Major Leagues.
