Laura Chicurel, the founder and owner of Chicurela,Ash Iggy Lace Up Open Toe Slate Leather, owns a start up that specializing in the commercialization of eco-friendly salmon skin leather. That’s right,Ash Ginger Sneaker, salmon skin leather. Chicurela mission is to “create high-end small leather goods which combine unique materials and design for today’s professional women”. After diving deeper into the company I found that innovation and ingenuity bought about the genius idea of using salmon skin to create luxury goods. Salmon skin actually used to be waste material from the salmon farming industry used to make oil and other materials. Chicurela took a wasteful process and turned it into eco friendly quality leather goods.
Back in August I went into detail about the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards and highlighted some key moments since the prestigious award’s existence (read post). The 2nd Annual Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards were just as exciting especially when Chilean entrepreneur Laura Chicurel, founder of Chicurela Ltd,Polo Messenger Bag, was chosen as the European winner.
Laura Chicurel recently commented about the win saying:
I’m thrilled to be among the winners of the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards. Climate change is one of the most critical global challenges of our time and responsible companies need to prioritize the environment in their strategy and day-to-day activities.
