We visited various furniture makers and farms, big and small, throughout the Hawaiian islands over the past year to acquire as much of their “run off” pieces of Koa wood as possible. “Run off” wood is the extra wood that is leftover from making furniture/products. From these pieces of Koa wood, Shwood was able to manufacture 200 limited edition pairs of their popular ‘Canby’ sunglasses silhouette. The classic, rich Koa wood is highly revered in Hawaiian culture and only gets better with age. Every pair of these Koa wood ‘Canby’s have a different look to them as there are different grain patterns and tints of the wood because they were collected from different sources, and therefore, different groves/forests. Needless to say, each Shwood x KICKS/HI ‘Canby’ sunglasses will be totally unique. These 200 pairs are to commemorate KICKS/HI’s 10 year anniversary, and will be available this Saturday (9/24) exclusively at the following brick and mortar shops: KICKS/HI, KICKS/HI Guam, and Saint Alfred; with online retail partners: www.bricksworth.com & Shwood.
