Fashion on a Budget 101
We all would love to look like those supermodels and A-list celebrities but, when it comes to the paying the ridiculously high price tag, we realize that achieving the "perfect look" will break the bank! There is no need to look frumpy if you cannot afford the original Vera Wang dress or those Vogue sunglasses that you saw Giselle Bundchen wearing. You just have to get creative with you shopping and your style. It is much easier to look like a fashion diva without spending thousands of dollars and here are some tips to get you started!
1) Do your fashion research. If you want to look the stars, you have to know what they are wearing. This research is all encompassing so make sure you do more than just look at one magazine. You need to have a few weeks or months worth of "People," "US Weekly," and "Lucky" magazines, and others if you afford to do so! Start flipping those pages! Look at what people are wearing who match your body type and coloring. What looks great on Anne Hathaway does not necessarily look good on Halle Berry and vice versa.
2) Get the basics. Now that you have sufficiently trained your eye through extensive research, you can start hitting the mall and boutique clothing stores. The goal here is to try to the sale sections first or only go when the store is posting discounts on all their clothing. You do not want to rush the process! You need to be thorough because a hidden gem might be waiting for you just one rack over! Make sure you have all the clothing basic- jeans, solid color shirts and jackets before you go for the more eye-popping items like Chanel sunglasses. Always start with the basics as building blocks for the rest of the outfit!
3) Accessorize! The key to accessorizing is not to overdo it. However, a scarf, a piece of jewelry, or great earrings can make all the difference for an outfit. Sunglasses are one of the most popular items today for taking an “ok” outfit to “wow”. You can get a versatile pair of shades that go with a lot of your outfits, so you can get a lot of use out of this one accessory. Great designer sunglasses from companies like Vogue, Chanel or D&G shades, are not difficult to find on a discount either if you know where to look!
Fashion on a budget is do-able! Just follow these simple tips and you will be setting trends in no time!
