Default Polos Polo Ralph Lauren Chasing Amber

I carelessly threw some clothes, my brush, toiletries, my beach towel, flip flops,Polos Polo Ralph Lauren, bathing suit and socks into my backpack, zipped it up and tossed it on my unmade bed. In another bag, I put in my overdue library book, some magazines and my hoarded, treasured stash of food. I loved my Pringles and Sun chips, and I knew that Marie, my best friend, would adore the oversized bag of skittles. I put that bag in my backpack, and as an afterthought, I put my wallet with $400 dollars in it in a secret pocket of my backpack.
I slung my pack on my shoulder and surveyed the room with a blind eye to the tangled sheets on my bed and the clothes that covered the carpet like a dirty blanket. "I,Ropa Belstaff, Amber Love, am ready," I announced.
"Amber?" That was my mom.
"Yeah?" I galloped down the stairs, jumping the last two.
Mom came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel. She winced as my landing jarred the house. "Careful," she scolded. "How are you getting to Marie's?"
"I'm walking. I gotta return a library book anyway."
She nodded. "Did you make your bed?" My hesitation clinched it. "Go do it or you're not going." Ouch. "Oh,la martina, and pick up your room a bit while you're at it," she shouted to my back. I grumbled something at her and as I turned into my room, I heard her say, "Claudia, take the cookie crumbs out of your brother's nose. Now."
I grinned while I threw my clothes in the hamper. Claudia is my five year old sister and she's constantly tormenting Jerry, my three year old brother. She's taking after me, the little tyke.
I straightened out the covers so it looked halfway passable, and galloped down the stairs once more.
I had my hand on the door knob when mom came out of the kitchen again. "Amber?"
I stifled a sigh before turning to face her. "Yeah, mom."
My tone was a tad too sharp for her. "Don't take that tone with me, young lady. Do you need pillows or sleeping bags?"
"No, Marie has it all at her house." We go through this conversation every time I sleep over Marie's.
"Okay then. Check out the mail, will ya." She saw my expression as I dutifully leaned over to grasp at the letters at my feet. "Amber!"
"What! I'm doing it! Relax, mbt rivenditori!" I flipped through the stack, barely glancing at the addresses. "., LL Bean. Seventeen." I tucked in my pack. "Oh no, not again!"
"What?"
"Mr. Downey's mail," I handed the rest to her, and beat her to it. "Yeah, mom, I know, I'll take it next door when I go out."
"Okay Amber, schuhe mbt, have fun!" Mom disappeared back in the kitchen after I pecked her cheek.
I rolled my eyes once outside, muttering "finally!" My cell phone began to ring in my coat pocket and I fished around for it. "Hello?"
"Yo, Amber, you so slow! What's taking you so long?" My best friend demanded.
"And hello to you too, Marie," I laughed. "I just left the house, gimme a break." I slowed down to a dawdle and left my property, trailing my fingertips along the white picket fence next door. I eyed the black car out in the front with admiration, and without much thought of who Mr. Downey might possibly have as company.
"You just left?" Marie moaned. "I'm absolutely dying! Well, hurry up and get your butt over here!"
"Okay okay, bye." I closed my phone and tucking it in my pocket, I rang the door bell. No one answered. I pressed it again, feeling irritated. Nothing sounded. I rapped my knuckles on the door. No answer. I tried to peer in the windows at either side, almost falling in the holly bushes. The curtains were drawn closed.
That wasn't unusual. Mr. Downey was an elderly man who had lived in his house for fifty years, he so loved to tell anyone who'd listen. He'd been a widower for forty of it. He didn't like to go outside much, and liked the windows covered. But he was a lonely man and welcomed company at anytime, so the fact that he hadn't answered my knock was odd. Very odd.
Feeling that something was wrong, dreadfully wrong, I moved slowly towards the back of the house. In this heat, you couldn't move any faster than a crawl. I looked down at the envelope and tilted my head, puzzled. It was a white envelope, and in block letters, "Mr. Edward Downey" was printed, along with his address,MBT Chapa Herr, which is similar to mine. Yet there was something wrong with it.
My hands shaking, I slit the side of the envelope with my thumbnail and withdrew a folded piece of paper from inside. I unfolded it and received a papercut for my pains (haha, no pun intended. Before I could move my finger away, a drop of blood stained the edge of the white paper.
"Ouch!" I cried softly, and sucking on the papercut, my eyes fell to the block writing centered on the page.
