One of the best and most exciting shows in the NBA today is Blake Griffin.
A rookie power forward with the Los Angeles Clippers, Griffin is a highlight mainstay. Game after game, Griffin soars above the rim for monster dunks and posts double-doubles.
"Right now he is a human highlight reel," Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said after Monday's practice. "When he gets into the lob dunks and the drives and the flying above the square to get the offensive rebounds, they enter a different stratosphere as a team."
Carlisle will try to devise a scheme to keep Griffin in this stratosphere when the Mavs (28-15) face the Clippers (17-26) at 7:30 Tuesday night at American Airlines Center.
Griffin has been the talk of the NBA this season. Not only is the former Oklahoma star fourth in the league in rebounds with 12.9 per game, he's also 12th in scoring (22.8 points) and tied with Dirk Nowitzki for 15th in field-goal percentage (.522). The 6-10, 251-pounder has that "it" factor and potential to become a superstar.
"He has that Karl Malone-type game where he's physical," Mavs point guard Jason Kidd said. "I don't know if Karl played above the rim like that when he was [Griffin's] age, but I think [Griffin's] a guy who comes to play every night.
"As a rookie you don't find that that much in this league, and he's doing it. I think he has a good grasp of the game to be young, and the future is very bright for him and also for his team."
Griffin recently had his double-double streak snapped at 27 games,
MBT Chapa, including 14 consecutive games in which he collected at least 20 points and 10 rebounds.
"He's a beast this year," Mavs center Tyson Chandler said. "He's definitely one of the most exciting players to come into the league in a while.
"It's going to be important for us to keep him off the glass and keep him away from the rim."
In their first meeting against the Clips on Oct. 31, the Mavs held Griffin to 16 points (4-of-15 shooting) and nine rebounds.
"That was three months ago," Carlisle said. "That was his third game as a pro and now he's 40 games into it.
"He's obviously made adjustments,
Nike Sneakers, he's gained experience, he's gained confidence, so he's a different player now."
In the Clips' last five games, Griffin has averaged 28.8 points and 14.6 rebounds.
That includes 18 points and 15 rebounds during a 99-92 win over the Lakers,
MBT Shuguli Gtx, 47 points (19 of 24 field goals) and 14 rebounds in a 114-107 victory over Indiana, and 30 points,
MBT Shoes Clearance,

"He's done everything,
MBT Shoes," Kidd said. "He's rebounded, he's scored.
"I think being consistent is maybe the biggest thing as a rookie, and he's showing that with the stats that he's put up this season. He's definitely put up some highlights, and he does some things that are very special."
