Starting his business from a market stall on the King's Road, Scotsman Wilson progressed to a stand-alone store in 1972 on the Fulham Road in London, which, alongside a sister branch in the smart shopping destination of South Molton Street, continues to go from strength to strength.

The 40th anniversary book features over 200 full page images of the most iconic pieces and photo shoots. Priced at ￡48,hermes birkin, ￡10 from each sale of the keepsake will be donated directly to Breast Cancer Care. Butler & Wilson are reliably the first port of call when a glamorous bit of sparkle is required. A current best-seller is the Swarovski encrusted evening bag. Most recently, vintage clothing has been added in addition to the successful launch of a men's collection blending semi-precious stones.

A decade later, the Fulham Road shop became famous for its traffic-stopping billboards, which featured the most distinguished actresses and models such as Jerry Hall, Faye Dunaway, Catherine Deneuve and Bianca Jagger to name but a few, emblazoned outside the store wearing Wilson's decadent creations. The top names were happy to pose in front of the camera for leading fashion photographers such as David Bailey, Terence Donovan and John Swannell, simply in exchange for a few pieces of covetable Butler & Wilson jewellery.

Today I am leaving for a two week vacation to Europe. My long lost college roommate and I are going to be hitting up Spain and Italy and in Italy Vlad will be meeting up with us for a Gondola ride or two! I am super excited for this vacation and this time will actually be vacationing. We are lucky enough to have someone who will write posts for me while I am gone, Nerdphanie!
