Keeping Our Children Safe

I believe that there can never be anything that is more terrifying then something happening to our kids. Its one thing for us to get hurt or lost but when it happens to a child the real terror begins. We go through our every day routines and get to a point where most things are taken for granted. Our pre-school children are always close at hand and unless they are really misbehaving we are happy. But almost every parent has had a time when they have lost sight of there child for a minute and instantly feel the panic rise up inside.

In my case we were at a flea market and our three year old daughter was with us. She went to the bathroom with her mother and when she finished she ran out the door to find Dad. Well Dad was not outside the door so she went looking for him before her mother could catch her. She got lost and when my wife found me she was half crazy already. We started yelling and running around looking from one isle to the next. When our daughter realized she was lost she let out a terrifying scream that I still hear in my nightmares. It was easy to find her then but when I got her in my arms she was shaking like a leaf.
The first thing that comes to your mind when you settle down is who to blame. Then you tell the child what she already knows,

alife, and we have a good baby seat in our cars,

Today I am leaving for a two week vacation to Europe. My long lost college roommate and I are going to be hitting up Spain and Italy and in Italy Vlad will be meeting up with us for a Gondola ride or two! I am super excited for this vacation and this time will actually be vacationing. We are lucky enough to have someone who will write posts for me while I am gone, Nerdphanie! You all remember her as a guest blogger! Now she is signed on as a two week blogger to fill my spot. She will bring you lots of new bags and goodies to look at. I will be posting sporadically, but not my usual four or five posts a day
