Tech-Archive suggests: Repair Windows Mistakes & Optimize Windows Performance From: v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (Terence Liu [MSFT])
Date: Tue, 15 Apr 2008 07:07:01 GMT Hello Fancy,
Thank you for posting here.
According to your description, I understand that you unable to connect
exchange 2007 sp1 on Windows server 2008 thru Outlook Anywhere. If I have
misunderstood the predicament, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Based on my research, this is a bug of Windows server 2008. The server is
not listening to port 6004 on the loopback for Ipv6. Windows Server 2008
prefers IPv6 over IPv4 and the result is a failed connection.
In a multi-server environment, where the RPC over HTTP Proxy is on a server
other than the Exchange Server 2007 SP1 Client Access Server, IPv6 will be
used and will likewise fail for 6004.
In a single server scenario, when the RPC-over-HTTP Proxy tries to connect
a user session to port 6004 on the same server, it tries to connect to
:::1:6004 and not to 127.0.0.1:6004 (Ipv4). Because the server is not
listening to port 6004 on the IPv6 stack, the connection fails.
WORKAROUNDS
=============
1. If the RPC-over-HTTP Proxy is on a different server than Exchange Server
2007 Service Pack 1, you can disable (uncheck) IPv6 from the Properties of
your Network Adapter on the RPC-over-HTTP Proxy product. That will force the
RPC-over-HTTP Proxy to use IPv4 to talk to Exchange and the error will not
occur.
2. However, if you are working with a single-server scenario,Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 Serial, even
disabling IPv6 - including the "DisabledComponents" registry settings to
disable IPv6 - will not
resolve the issue. The loopback interface still uses IPv6. The workaround
is to modify your Hosts file on the Exchange Server 2007 SP1 computer.
a. Comment out the line ":::1 localhost"
b. Add the following two lines:
<IPv4 address> <hostname of the computer>
<IPv4 address> <FQDN of the computer>
I hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)
