What on earth is a Dwarf Planet? Pluto Has "Upside Down" Environment Pluto More compact Than Dwarf Planet Neighbor Eris, Research Finds
It took about 3 minutes for members with the Illinois state senate to produce the unanimous vote: "that March 13, 2009,Microsoft Office Professional Plus, be declared 'Pluto Day' in the State of Illinois in honor from the date its discovery was introduced in 1930."
Quietly adopted on February 26, the state resolution is meant to honor Pluto discoverer Clyde Tombaugh, who was born and raised inside the farming village of Streator.

"This is a single of those items that the village is very pleased with," said Illinois State Senator Gary Dahl, who sponsored the resolution.
"I do not feel we're modifying the standing from the planet. We're merely asking that March 13 be declared Pluto Day and that, for the day,Windows 7, Pluto is actually a planet."
National Pride
Regardless of these seemingly humble intentions, the bill has reignited heated discussion above just what a planet is.
"Go, Illinois!" mentioned planetary scientist Alan Stern,Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007, principle investigator for NASA's New Horizons mission to Pluto.
"I believe it really is wonderful, from the feeling that, as an American, I'm proud that Clyde Tombaugh produced 1 from the largest finds in 20th-century astronomy."
Mike Brown, an astronomer in the California Institute of Technology, agreed that Tombaugh deserves accolades.
"I am surprised at what he did," Brown explained.
Even with innovative pcs and more substantial telescopes,Office 2007 Professional Plus Key, "it took 77 a long time until we identified something bigger than he did"—the distant object now called Eris, which Brown discovered in 2005.
Still,Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Plus, Brown calls the Illinois resolution "very silly," noting that such legislation can be dangerous to public understanding of science.
