KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police have tracked down several pairs of stolen
puma shoes sold on the streets of Kansas City. Kansas City police got a tip last week that a trailer full of Nikes was stolen.
Authorities executed a search warrant Monday night in the 4500 block of Park Avenue which led them to 63
nike air max 5112s.
The Nike shoes retail for $95,
cheap sunglasses, but were being sold on the streets for anywhere between $60 and $100.
Authorities believe there are about 500 more stolen Nikes being sold the area, and the investigation remains ongoing.
"I say it's a hot item. There's a market for it, and as a pattern. It's more of a criminal pattern in this area right now," Kansas City police Sgt. Daniel Graves said.
Investigators cannot go into detail about possible suspects as they are continuing to investigate.
Police do ask if you believe you bought a pair of those Nikes to call the TIPS hotline at 816-747-TIPS.
