the great escape…
« cuteness for your fridayfirst friday in philadelphia »the great escape…May 7th, 2010 / Posted by fp julia / Permalinkfridays are always a little tough at work this time of year, air max 2010, with it being so nice out and so close to the weekend, so what better way to help pass the day than a lunchtime concert? we snuck out today at noon, hopped in the car and made the quick drive over to WXPN for the local natives free at noon show – something the station does every friday at world café live.? we were instantly transported from work mode to music mode as we took our seats up in the mezzanine level (thanks xpn!) and let the tunes take over.? this band blows me away- they sound better live than on the album and the songs “airplanes” and “who knows who cares” gave me chills. i knew “sun hands” would be amazing live as well and it sure was- they put everything into that song no matter how many times they have played it. this was my first time seeing them live and it definitely will not be the last- i have already got tickets to see them at first unitarian church in philly this august! 7 people like this post.LikeTags: concert, events, local natives, music,A&F classic pants, wxpnThis entry was postedon Friday, May 7th, 2010 at 5:44 pmand is filed under happenings, nike dunks shoes, soundtrack. You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0 feed. You can skip to the end and leave a response. If Justice Is Not Always an OutcomeMany of us would have hoped that the British government would not have jump on the American political bandwagon against Julian Assange but would have been more just and fair. But the might of America and its alliance seems to be more convincing to the UK government than justice and fairness. Winston Churchill once said that, "The whole history of the world is summed up in the fact that, when nations are strong, they are not always just, and when they wish to be just, they are no longer strong." How true it is? Is mighty America still just and fair? Does its flexing of its political muscles on a single individual (Julian Assange) who represents freedom of expression talk anything about justice and fairness? But justice is not always an outcome, as seen by the reactions of the British government towards Julian Assange who surrender voluntarily. So it needs the British justice system to provide a balance to the imbalance of political group thinking. UK as an ally wants to please its American political partner. But is it at the cost of justice and fairness? Do political alliances override justice and fairness? So, though many of us in the world would have hoped the British government to be more just and fair to Julian Assange, it did not turn out to be so. The dispensing of justice and fairness is now left to the British justice system which so far seems to be independent of political influence.
