Analysts agreed that Microsoft desires to supply the add-on to help persuade consumers to upgrade to Windows 7,Windows 7 Enterprise X64, however they also noted that it could cause multiple difficulties for company consumers.

"This will help the uptake for Windows seven, because it removes yet another gotcha, and that's by no means a bad point to accomplish," stated Michael Cherry, an analyst at Instructions on Microsoft.

Cherry additional that Microsoft's choice to work with virtualisation to offer backward compatibility is a great "safety net" for users who lack access to Microsoft's Enterprise Desktop Virtualisation technology.

Michael Silver,Windows 7 Professional, an analyst at Gartner, echoed Cherry's get on what inspired Microsoft to offer XPM, but he added that it broadly expands support demands. "You'll have to support two variations of Windows," he said. "Each desires to get secured, anti-virused, firewalled and patched. If a company has ten,000 PCs, that is 20,000 circumstances of Windows."

Silver also mentioned the add-on may lead companies to neglect the critical task of creating positive their purposes are compatible with Windows seven. "This is a good Band-Aid, but firms need to heal their programs,Office Professional 2007 Key," he said. "They'll be carrying out on their own a disservice if, because of XPM,Windows 7 Home Basic Sale, they are not creating confident that all their apps assist Windows seven."

Silver extra that even though Microsoft is efficiently extending the lifestyle of Windows XP by presenting it being a Windows 7 add-on, it has not changed its strategy to shift the older operating program out of mainstream assist and supply only what it calls "extended" help only till mid-April 2014.

"[XPM] will give some a bogus perception of safety," Silver warned. "What occurs in 2014, when XP isn't really supported any longer? I think organizations is going to be much much better off if they make all their apps operate on Windows seven."
