Josh Harrellson plays tennis, talks about NBA lockout at celebrity event
Harrellson said he's living in Lexington this summer and goes out for about an hour and a half a day but leaves the repose of the daytime "open for however."
With the NBA lockout in force, the recent New York Knicks draft pick thought, why not play?
"I've just been trying to do fun entities," he said. "I've been riding some WaveRunners and just been going home to penetrate the home. There's a lot of time where I'm not act too much."
"I've got nought else to do," Harrellson said jokingly. "I've never really played tennis, especially competitively like this. It's something new.
"Not a opportunity in the world," he said. "I'm going to mallet with basketball."
On Big Blue Night at the tennis competition, Harrellson was the cardinal attraction in the celebrity doubles match, which likewise featured UK women's basket ball adviser Matt Mitchell and men's basket ball co-worker coach Orlando Antigua.
He barely made contact with the ball on one shot, which reminded him to jokingly complain about having a broken din. He followed that up along launching a shot into the stands.
But namely didn't stop the sometime University of Kentucky star center from teaming up with former UK All-American and national champion Kyle Macy in a somebody doubles match Tuesday night by the Fifth Third Tennis Championships.
The thought of playing abroad during the lockout has crossed his mind, but he said he's no prepared to drag the trigger on that discretion equitable yet.
While his momentary future with the Knicks is in answer because of the lockout, Harrellson said he's using his off time to loosen.
"I said the merely direction I was working apt activity is whether I was aboard Kyle Macy's team," Harrellson said. "I understand he's pretty good, so I was hoping he could carry me."
"I'm just trying to obtain my Ochocinco on and browse fashionable amusements. Maybe afterward I'll try golf or someone."
"I'm all right right immediately," he said. "If it happens too long, I might have to. But I've got a lot of down time right now, so I'm just ready to begin playing ball afresh."
He wasn't kidding about his tennis capabilities,
head tennis rackets, but he said the last time he played was in medium school.
Clearly not knowing the rules, Harrellson stumbled approximately while chasing balls bring ... to an endthe court, often hitting them into the net or out of bounds.
"I suck at tennis, so I at least must see goofy,
racquet tennis," he said.
Harrellson and Macy administered to conquer the match, an extended tiebreaker, 10-7 over Antigua and Mitchell.
"He's got game up there by the net. He's really good," Macy said in jest. "I liked his length up there by the web as a doubles partner.
"We were just merry to pull off the hard-fought victory. They were challenging antagonists, but we hung in there long enough. We played really well in the huge points."
Fortunately for him, Macy, who played tennis for one annual at Purdue, was there to back him up.
Harrellson showed up and instantly garnered care for his outfit, which comprised a Knicks hat worn backwards, a Knicks T-shirt, knee-high dark socks and his signature jean shorts.
However, the win didn't testify to be enough to convince Harrellson to chase a profession in tennis when the lockout is in effect.
It wasn't always bad as Harrellson, whereas. He hit a few victors, including a mighty on the head of shot that buffet the altitude of the fence.
