Other than those few things, the kit they carry can be tailored to the kind of duties expected of them. An officer patrolling in a quiet residential area may need slightly less in the way of defensive and protective items to say an officer in a run down inner city.
Some police officers would carry a taser or pepper spray as a normal piece of police equipment but it is by no means the norm. Officers need to protect themselves and the general public and the kit they have helps them do that. Officers often have to carry in excess of 9kg or kit with them, and that is a lot of weight to lug around when you are trying to chase down someone! A lot of police equipment is carried to protect the officers and that is important along with defense items such as their baton and firearm.
The most common piece of police equipment would be their boots! You may not class boots as equipment but a good pair of boots is pretty important to an officer. Gloves, t-shirts, badge holders, gun grips and whistles are all police equipment. Tactically many of those items may not seem important but it is the whole amount of kit they carry that amounts to the total safety and protection of an officer.
