Default A Double-Barreled Threat

To begin the season Thursday, the Yankees will face the right-hander Justin Verlander of Detroit and his 98-mile-per-hour fastball. So Kevin Long,Philadelphia Phillies Hats, the hitting coach — and batting-practice pitcher — was asked if he could add about 40 m.p.h. to his pitches over the next few days.
“It’s not in there,Cheap HOT Styles,” Long said,More Brand Hats, pointing to his left arm. “I’m not like Venditte.”
That would be Pat Venditte,Players Authentic Hats, the Yankees’ ambidextrous reliever, cheap Colorado Rockies Hats, who made his first appearance of the exhibition season Sunday.
Venditte, a 20th-round draft pick out of Creighton in 2008, entered with two outs in the eighth inning and,Racing Hats Sale, after throwing four warm-up pitches with each arm,New York Yankees Hats Sale, walked the Twins’ Aaron Hicks (right-handed) before momentarily befuddling Matt Tolbert.
In the on-deck circle,Philadelphia Phillies Hats sale, Tolbert,Washington Nationals Hats, a switch-hitter, took his practice swings from the left side. But when Venditte adjusted his glove,NFL Hats Sale, which has two thumbs, to throw left-handed — Manager Joe Girardi ordered the switch so Venditte could keep a closer eye on Hicks at first — Tolbert returned to the dugout to get a helmet that protected his right side. Tolbert grounded out.
“Larry wanted to see it,” Girardi said, referring to the pitching coach Larry Rothschild. “You want to show your pitching coach the organization.”
