Announcing the 2011 College Social Innovator Contest

Today, in partnership with the Harvard College Social Innovation Collaborative,Â*the Common Good column is launching theÂ*2011 College Social Innovator Contest. Announced today at theÂ*Igniting Innovation <a href="http://www.jordanheelswomen.net/"><strong>Jordan High Heels</strong></a> Summit at Harvard, the challenge will surface, highlight and reward undergraduates in the U.S. engaged in social entrepreneurship to create positive change at the local, national and global level. Theme: How AreÂ*You Changing the World? Categories: Local, National, and Global Guidelines: Write 500 to 700 words addressing the following questions: What inspired you to seek social change? What issue are you focusing on? Why is this issue important? What is your innovative approach to addressing this issue? What have you accomplished thus far? Awards and Recognition: The top 3 social change essays from each of the categories (Global, National, Local) will be selected by the leadership of Harvard's Social Innovation Collaborative <a href="http://www.jordanheelswomen.net/"><strong>Jordan Heels</strong></a> and myself of Forbes.com'sÂ*the Column Good column. This will be completed by November 11th. All 9 finalists will have their submissions posted online in each category, where individuals vote for their favorite starting November 14th. Voting will last for two weeks, until midnight November 28th. Winners will be announced and contacted on November 29th. Each winner receives the inaugural recognition as the 2011 College Social Innovator, 150 and their winning essay published as a guest column on the Common Good at Forbes.com.
