A GRIEVING 11-year-old son has bravely told how he would remember his Ringwood East mother as “the queen of the cupcakes” and “the black jelly bean in the pack”.
Lisa Victoria Heathcote, 43, was killed in an accident on March 7 when a four-wheel drive and a motorbike on which she was a passenger collided on Canterbury Rd in Surrey Hills. Ms Heathcote died at the scene.
Her life was commemorated last Thursday at a funeral full of colour and laughter, in which mourners wore bright clothes and hats to honour the milliner’s memory.
Her son, Massey, wrote a poem entitled Mummy and Me, which he read to the congregation.
Massey remembered his Mum as a “fairy” and said he would always imagine her watching over him from her favourite tree in the garden.
Tears for Ms Heathcote flowed freely at the Lilydale Memorial Park chapel, which was packed with friends, family and colleagues.
The milliner, who created bespoke hats at City Hats, located below the clocks at Flinders Street station, was also a member of classic motorcycle club 59 and belonged to the Melbourne Crusaders scooter club. Before the funeral, hundreds of motorbikes and scooters drove in convoy to Lilydale Memorial Park along the Maroondah Highway,

Friend Sam Joy said Ms Heathcote’s open heart and generous spirit had had a profound effect on her own life.
“She taught me to celebrate life every day and enjoy the little things,” Ms Joy said.
