The first thing you need to do is determine where the puncture is located. A quick way to do this is to submerge the tire in water and watch where air bubbles form. Pliers are a good tool for this step. Simply use the pliers to pull the object out in the same direction as the tire’s tread. Now is the time to prepare to patch the tire hole. Using a tire reamer clean the hole out from the inside of the tire. Remember the awl is still through the hole. Apply a thin layer of cement to the stem of the patch and pull the stem through the hole.
