way belong to neither

Last week I met my half American cousin at a marrying for the 1st period and the term American Born Confused Desi which we used constantly took a whole new averaging. It was Carols premier visit to India and she was surveyed under a microscope and each action was evaluated. The shame in the home while her dad married an American was relived and gasped at afresh. The girl was put in the worst feasible situation. If she spoke in English she was showing off. If she tried to talk in our mommy tongue she was being synthetic. If she wore a western kit she was brought up without any fancy of Indian culture,Supra Shoes, If she wore a sari alternatively ghaghra like the recess of us it didnt suit her indo-western looks.

All this brought a cloud of questions in my mind. Arent the poor kids creature decided because their parents (ill)actions? Instead of creature the arrogant bearers of two assorted civilizations arent they being compelled to justify each and in a large part belong to nor?……
