Since 1950 the NCAA College World Series is held each year in Omaha Nebraska. The NCAA championship is held between eight regions. There are six teams from each region that participate in the double elimination tournament. The winner then advances to the College World Series. The eight regional champs then participate in another double elimination tournament to decide the national champion.
Over the years NCAA College Baseball has actually become big business. In fact since 1962 the NCAA championships have shown a nice profit. At the end of the season this profit is equally divided up among all the participating university and college baseball teams.
