Tron Light Disk Audio Dock by Monster: Oooo, Lights (The Sound Ain ...
Casey Chan —Is Tron still cool? OK, that's a stupid question. Tron is forever. And this Monster Tron Light Disk Audio Dock looks like it was lifted straight from the the Grid. Just look at the lights on this thing. Oh, the lights! But what about the sound? If you have any semblance of a soul, you're going to think the Light Disk dock is faneffingtasticallydropdeadgorgeous. It feels like one solid (and weighty!) piece from the future—not the wimpy, LV Handbags, purses creaky plastic that plague iPhone docks today. The lights that highlight the rim, when combined with the Tron iPhone app, will dance like a light show and deliver Olivia Wilde into your home. Okay, not really, but I have a hard time believing Coach Handbags she'd be as pretty in person as this dock is. The speakers have more punch than you'd expect too. Clear mids, powerful but not heavy bass and a pretty wide listening angle. The treble isn't airy enough at lower volumes but this pup can handle a whole lotta oomph, so feel free to turn it up. It's not audiophile quality, obviously, but when you're buying movie-inspired speakers, you shouldn't be expecting that anyways. The remote feels like a piece of cheap plastic. And that's because it is a piece of cheap plastic. The app that ties into the Light Disk Audio Dock is piss poor. Instead I've been using the regular iPod app—which sucks cause all the lightning effects are tied to the Tron app. Oh, and the power cable is Coogi Clothing Wholesale,Wholesale Gucci Shoes Gucci Belts ... too short, while the power brick is too big. At its MSRP of 300 it'd be too expensive, but Amazon has it on sale for 200 which seems closer to what it should be. You can keep up with Casey Chan, the author of this post, on Twitter or Facebook.
