Fall festivals in Northern Virginia Fall Festival in City of Fairfax The City of Fairfax Parks &amp; Recreation hosts an annual fall festival on the second Saturday in October in historic Old Town downtown. The event starts at 10am and runs until 5pm. Admission is free. Free shuttle buses run from George Mason University and Fairfax High School. Children's activities include carnivals, face-painting, pick-your-own-pumpkin, amusement rides, petting zoo among others. While most activities are free, some require a nominal fee. This year the Festival Stage will feature smash hits from “The Legwarmers – The Ultimate 80′s Band."
