Prologue
The year is 16 S.D. Technology has advanced to the point where interstellar travel is not only possible but an everyday occurrence. Flying cars exist, and gasoline is a thing of the past, all cars run on air now. Schools are now taught by holographic teachers, most of whom are light years away. And as all children in the past have had, this generation has it's games. The elementary students enjoy an old time favorite, dodge ball. Junior high students play something called Fortunimas, a cross between football, soccer, and hockey. But the high school students, they're playing something else, they play the biggest war game to ever hit the galaxy in all of time and space. It's name, is Custom Weapons Battle.
Ch.1
The Twilight Blade
"Attention students, this is your principle speaking. Today after school, there will be a scout from Makashi Training Academy here to scout for potential Custom Weapons Battle competitors. He will be waiting in gym 3. That is all."
"As if every student in the school doesn't know about the scout coming today" Derisati said, gathering his books as the final chime of the day rang, "You're trying out, aren't you Seither?" He asked looking over at his friend. Derisati Kintor was 17 years old, a junior, had brown hair, and sharp silver eyes. His skin had this natural, light tan to it, and he was almost always found in a t-shirt and pants, regardless of the weather.
"Yea, aren't you? I'm mean Makashi Training Academy is the best around, and they're offering two all expenses paid tuitions to their program. It's worth trying just incase you make it." Seither said as they reached their lockers. Seither Hawkins was 18 years old, a senior, had blonde hair and brown eyes. His skin was incredibly pale, despite the fact he spent nearly all his time outside in the sun.
"I'll come and watch you, but I don't think I'll try out, I'm no good anyway." Derisati said as he put his books away and grabbed his Custom Gauge. It was a little round, grey device with a strap to go around your arm to hold it in place, and had only a single slot in the side of it.
"Well, you would be better if you bought yourself a Decryptation Chip...which reminds me," Seither said as he rummaged through his locker, "ah, here it is! Happy Belated Birthday bud." Seither said handing Derisati an oddly wrapped package.
"My birthday was only a day ago, it's not that late," Derisati said as he unwrapped the package, "You got me a Trinity Decryptation Chip! These things are nearly three hundred rubits! How could you afford...why would you..." Derisati stuttered as he carefully opened the package.
"What did you think I did all summer, sat on my butt and watch Holotube? I was out working and making money, and I got it because A), you need one, and B) you're going to use it today at the try out." Seither explained as he closed their locker doors.
"You sneaky little bastard, you planned this all along didn't you?" Derisati asked as they walked toward gym 3.
"Right you are buddy. Now, pop that thing in, the preloading and scanning take a while." Seither said as he started to fiddle with his orange Custom Gauge.
"Alright, let's get this thing started then," Derisati said as he placed the Trinity Decryptation Chip into the slot, which then pulled the chip in and sealed the slot to a near invisible state," There, it's in. So these chips read your subconscious and imagination and create a weapon for you that way, right?" Derisati asked, still being fairly new to the concept of Custom Weapons Battle, having only got his Custom Gauge two months earlier.
"Right. Without a chip you get the standard metal pole, with it, you have a weapon that is unique to you. The weapon will appear in your hand, and materialize, once the Databoundry is set and shortly after that, the digital countdown will begin. When it reaches zero, the battle will begin, and your green health bar will appear both above your head and on your Custom Gauge. Then you fight, first one to lose all their health loses, simple as that." Seither explained as if this was such common knowledge that everyone should know it by heart.
"OW! This thing just shocked me!" Derisati yelped as he shook his hand from the pain.
"Yea, it does that, just testing your reflexes now, which means it's almost ready. Oh, I almost forgot, there are different levels of battles to, though we'll only be fighting in level 1 today. Level 1 is basic weapon, 100 health. Level 2 is advanced weapon, which means your weapon will have it's ability, and 150 health. Level 3 is advanced weapon, time trial, and 200 health. Level 4 is super weapon, at which your weapon will have it's secondary ability, and 250 health. Level 5 is super weapon, low gravity, and 300 health. After that, there's the Galactic Levels, which are Level C, super weapon and increased speed, 300 health, Level B is super weapon, increased speed, time trial, and 350 health, Level A is max weapon, which is when your weapon will have double it's normal stats, and both abilities, increased speed and damage, and 500 health. Then there's the legendary Level S, Ultimate weapon, which is max stats for your weapon and all abilities as well, and 20,000 health. Those matches can go on for hours, you should see the way some of those guys fight!" Seither explained as they walked down the hall to the gym. There was a sudden whir and then a beep from Derisati's Custom Gauge, "Ah, it's done. Look at the screen and view your weapon's stats. You'll want to know what they are so you have some idea of how to use your weapon when you go to fight." Seither said as they reached gym 3's doors and he tried to open them, "Looks like you've got some time, the doors are still locked. Better get to studying.' Seither said as he started to fiddle with his Custom Gauge again.
"Ok then..." Derisati replied as he attempted to rid himself of the headache he received from attempting to follow Seither's explanation of the levels of battle. He decided to read his weapon's stats, just incase it actually managed to help him out any. But before he could start Seither swiped it from out of his hands.
"Hmm...Sword type, so your strength will be more offense then defense. Awkward looking sword though, it almost looks like a crescent moon; it has just a slender curve in the blade, though it's a bit too thick to be a crescent. The handle is fit to your hand exactly by the way, so you'll have better control. No hilt guard on your weapon, which is unusual, but could be affective for parrying. Anyway, base strength is 33, that's pretty good. Defense is 28, not too shabby. Your main ability is Warp Strike, that's a new one to me, the description says it transports you through multiple dimensions rapidly, allowing you to strike your opponent from seemingly anywhere. Duration is 1 minute. Your secondary ability is Twin Blade, which creates a duplicate weapon with the same stats and increases your main ability's duration to 2 minutes. It's duration is the whole battle. That's a nice ability to have, deadly useful when combined with Warp Strike for sure. And now your weapon's name...Twilight Blade. What kind of name is that! Mine's the Shurikaru, a dual disc weapon of gold as you know, but just Twilight Blade? Seems so ordinary, I think someone was slacking when they made this chip. But at least now you have a weapon to fight with. Hopefully this will help you get enough of an edge to face me in the finals." Seither said as he gave Derisati his Custom Gauge back.
"I doubt it, but I'll give it my best." Derisati said as he strapped his Custom Gauge onto his arm.
"Well, now you can prove yourself worthy of that Trinity Decryptation Chip, cause here comes the scout with the keys to the gym. You ready?" Seither asked as he strapped his custom Gauge onto his arm.
"Ready as I'll ever be" Derisati said.
"Glad to hear it son. My name is Frank Gorimatu, and I'm the scout who will be hosting this little event. Now, welcome to the Makashi Challenge!" Frank exclaimed as he threw the doors to the gym open.
