HOUSTON -- Yao Ming will miss the rest of the playoffs since,0 of a broken left foot.
The Houston megalopolis limped off the tribunal late in the Los Angeles Lakers' 108-94 victory over the Rockets on Friday night. Yao missed Saturday's custom,0 to acquire,0 dispose and the team said the 7-foot-6 All-Star would be re-evaluated on Sunday.

But the Rockets announced later Saturday night that beyond examination of Yao's harm revealed a hairline fracture. The Rockets say Yao will need 8-12 weeks to regain, whereas no surgery is necessitated.
The Rockets and Lakers play Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinal catena on Sunday. The Lakers guide the sequence 2-1.
Yao had 19 points and 14 rebounds in Friday's wastage, his sixth straight double-double. But he was noticeably limping by the fourth quarter and in the end,0 hobbled off the court in the last minute, with the result determined.
Yao has been the focal point of the Rockets' offense since Tracy McGrady had season-ending knee surgery in February, and Houston ended 21-8 without McGrady. Yao has been plagued by serious leg and foot injuries in every,0 of the previous 3 seasons, but played in 77 games in 2008-09.
His left foot has given him problems before.
Just 4 games before the end of the 2005-06 regular season, Yao broke the fifth metatarsal in the foot in Utah and missed the playoffs after surgery. In February 2008, Yao sustained a stress fracture in his foot and missed the postseason another, returning in period to play for host China in the Olympics.
After the Rockets' practice on Saturday, Ron Artest said Yao told him that he'd be ready for Game 4. However, coach Rick Adelman arranged his team like,0 if Yao wouldn't be obtainable.
"We must play to our strengths," Adelman said. "Everybody has to play to their strengths and understand what they can do to help us win. You do it collectively. There's strength in numbers, and that's what we have to understand."
The Rockets went 3-2 without Yao during the regular season and 19-8 without him in 2007-08. A total of 12 players missed 179 games for Houston this season, and the Rockets still managed to go 53-29.
"We've won without people all year long," Adelman said. "It's just one more case. You can't dwell on who's not here. You have to dwell on who is here. These guys truly believe, if we go out and play the way we're capable of playing, we can win a game."

HOUSTON (AP)mThe Houston Rockets are down 2-1 in their Western Conference semifinal against the Los Angeles Lakers and theyrll be down their best player for the rest of the series.
Yao Ming is out for the remainder of the playoffs with a broken left foot, the Rockets announced late Saturday.
Yao limped off the court late in the Lakersr 108-94 victory on Friday night and underwent treatment Saturday. The Rockets originally said he would be re-evaluated by team medic Tom Clanton before Sundayrs game.
But Clanton said later that further examination of Yaors injury revealed a hairline fracture in his foot that will sideline him for 8-12 weeks. Clanton said Yao will must wear a protective shoe, merely that the injury will not require surgery.
The Rockets went 3-2 without Yao during the normal season and 19-8 without him in 2007-08. A aggregate of 12 athletes missed 179 games for Houston this season, and the Rockets still administered to go 53-29.

The 7-foot-6 Yao has been the focal point of the Rocketsr offense as,0 Tracy McGrady had season-ending knee surgery in February, and Houston achieved 21-8 without McGrady.
"This is a team thatrs actually survived a lot of adversity, and thatrs what you have to appreciate about them," Jackson said. "Theyrve had difficult challenges whole,0 annual and theyrve always come back. Werve got to be totally ready for different good fight."
Point guard Derek Fisher will return for the Lakers later serving a one-game suspension for a hard foul on Luis Scola in Game 2. Jordan Farmar played well in Fisherrs place on Friday night, scoring 12 points with seven helps in 33 minutes.
Bryant said Fisherrs absence benefited Farmarrs reassurance, thus improving the Lakersr backcourt depth.
"That game did a lot for Jordan, getting him back on pathway," Bryant said. "It adds a measurement to our team. It gives us more speed."
The Lakers took control in Game 3 with their ward, forcing 17 turnovers and holding Houston to 24 percent shooting in the third quarter, when they built a double-digit lead. And that wIt’s about time Yao playing more than 39 minutes.
Adelman accentuated the importance of defending and moving the ball at practice on Saturday.
"Itrs a matter of we have to heave our class of play, no matter who is playing," Adelman said. The Lakers say the Rockets can get,0 a more versatile offense with Yao out.
Artest, not Yao, is Houstonrs leading scorer in the playoffs, and Aaron Brooks and Scola are both averaging more than 14 points per game. The absence of Yao would also design,0 more minutes for ahead Carl Landry, whors averaging 7 points in the playoffs.
"We would expect Artest getting a lot more touches and looks, Brooks being more provocative and Landry and Scola creature more in the post and act damage there," Gasol said.
