Rumor has it that I will be getting a statue. A caveat for all my fans-don’t hold your breath. Lakers don’t care about me.
What prompted me has been a steady diet of disrespect from the supposedly wonderful Laker family.
Its not about a getting a statue because I’m over it – its about RESPECT,
Zoom Kobe VII (7)! Lakers have given me the absolute minimum of respect.
Those are a few comments from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Twitter about his alleged slight from the Lakers over a statue. The six-time MVP then went on ESPN Radio and complained some more.
Among things he claimed were:
– That the Lakers never helped him get a coaching job.
– That they made him sit in the coach section of the team plane when the Lakers returned from Orlando after winning the 2009 NBA title in Orlando even though there were spacious seats up front.
– That the Lakers asked him to take a cut in pay while they paid the head coach $10 milion-$12 million dollars a year.
“It was all the little things that started to wear on me that made me start to feel not like family,
Zoom Kobe V (5),” Abdul-Jabbar said in the radio interview.
He added that the lack of a statue was the “straw that broke the camel’s back.”
Abdul-Jabbar might have an argument,
Kobe Dream Season, but right now he sounds petulant and self-absorbed. He needs to take his complaints to Jerry Buss.
