The general entire body with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Thursday directed the civic administration to empower ward officers with rights to generate corrections in h2o bills. The choice was taken in the view of the large range of complaints of inflated water bills in the twin cities.
Speaking in the meeting,

The officers are forgetting that water supply is a service, not a business,” he said.

Despite strong opposition, the PCMC under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) had introduced the drinking water meter system in 2009. The civic system had invested Rs60 crore for purchasing water meters.
Residents from the twin cities of Pimpri-Chinchwad as well as public representatives have expressed discontent above faulty h2o meter systems.
Corporators on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction about the h2o meter system with the GB meeting. Demanding a probe into the matter by the civic chief, former mayor Azam Pansare asked how civic officials could distribute bills of Rs30,

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator,
office 2010 Home and Student product key, Ulhas Shetty, explained that after the installation of water meters in Pimpri-Chinchwad, bill distribution had become complicated. “A family of four is receiving h2o expenses of Rs20,000 to Rs40,000. The civic administration harasses the residents by threatening to cut off their tap connection if the charges are not paid on time,” Shetty explained.
Residents have to visit the PCMC office repeatedly to settle the drinking water expenses, but officers continue to behave arrogantly with them. Such mistakes would not have occurred if there was a computerised billing system in location, he added.
Behl directed the civic administration to take immediate steps to resolve the issue. He also mentioned that an all-party meeting or a special general system meeting will be called if the administration fails to resolve the issue.
