I love boat shoes for many reasons; styling (of course), comfort and durability
Choosing Tennis Shoes_8431, among many others.
The ground-breaking manufacturing technique that allowed the development of the plimsoll was called vulcanization, which is still used today. This process uses heat to meld rubber and cloth together. Sulfur is used during the process.Plimsolls were revolutionary at the time as they provided comfort, were lightweight and allowed the user to move around silently. Plimsolls became known as sneakers and were sold on a mass scale in America as early as 1917.In the four years since the last Olympics in Athens technology has moved on somewhat and has definitely moved on since the plimsoll days.Trainers and clothing has evolved to be lighter and stronger. But what part has technology had to play in enhancing the performance of our Olympians?Differing materials offer different properties such as stability; offering resistance to twisting and warping. When weight is applied to a material over a period of time it will creep (flatten out and spread).
Desert Boots
Desert boots were very common during the 70s and 80s and have recently reemerged as a sign of style. Why? Because they are sleek, durable, and comfortable. They are mostly constructed with high-quality leather or canvas upper with 2 eye holes for laces and a crepe sole. The crepe sole is surprisingly resilient, although first glance would make you believe the opposite.
Some say shoes tell more about an individual than any other article of clothing. The following styles of shoes are what I know as the most budget-friendly of 2010. As you will notice after reading, many of the hottest trends are those pulled from times past. Currently, retro and vintage are in.
Trainers and sport shoes have evolved, we have different shoes for each event and each pair of shoes is manufactured from a variety of number materials chosen because of their individual properties to put strength and flexibility where it is needed most. Materials such as Kevlar which is ten times stronger than leather, leather or canvas which is both thin, stable and of a low density
Cheap Colorado Rockies Hats, foam blown polyurethane which gives a shoe extra cushioning and thermoplastic polyurethane which make a shoe both strong and pliable. As technology has evolved scientists have developed new composite materials which work together to produce a better performance than that of the two or three separate materials. Some materials are used for their elastic properties, the ability to flex and bend when force is applied and then retain its original shape when the force is removed. Finally, some materials are chosen for their density which can be explained as the amount of matter in an object has per measurement of space, these materials are generally used for shock absorption.
With all of those features you may be thinking you'll have to pay an arm and a leg to own a pair. The best news is that they are usually priced in the humble $60-$70 price range.
Did I mention price? They are arguably one of the best bang-for-the-buck shoes on the market. You can usually find them for around $35 or $40.
Sperry Topsiders
Of course I didn't forget one of the most popular shoes of the summer--boat shoes. Like the aforementioned styles, topsiders (or boat shoes) were popular in the 70s and 80s and with common trends shifting toward retro styling, they have been growing in popularity. And you can expect them to continue to grown.
Boat shoes are an excellent casual, go-to shoe. Like the Vans, they can be worn with or with socks, or with jeans or shorts. One of the greatest things about them is that they don't sacrifice style for comfort and durability. First made for sailers and boaters, they are extremely water resistant out of the box and are made to be comfortable in even the most intense performance situations.
Of course these aren't the only great shoes under $100, but they are among the most popular. If you are looking for style, comfort and durability Desert Boots, Vans Classics, and Boat Shoes are always a safe bet.
Vans Classics
That's right, the generic, laced vans low tops have become ever popular once again. Most likely because of their timeless, sleek, and conservative look, which follow current fashion trends. These shoes are constructed of a canvas upper and most often sport a gum sole. They are an extremely lightweight, comfortable and versatile shoe. Wear them with or without socks, or with jeans or denim. If you buy a neutral color, they can do it all.
Dessert boots look exceptionally great with a pair of blue jeans. However, a current trend is to fold down the upper-ankle portion of the boat and wear it with shorts. If you have the confidence to pull this off, by all means do it. It looks great and I have heard nothing but good things from girls about it.
I own a pair of desert boots myself and I can personally attest to their unique style and durability. I've walked over 2 miles a day in them for the last six months and have absolutely no complaints. I picked up my pair for around $85. If you are thrifty, I've seen some of the best-selling brands of desert boots sell for around $70.
