Heading to California, but taking red shoes - just in case ...
I can honestly say I have never had a desire to roam too far from Pennsylvania. I've been to Cook's Forest, Hershey Park and Gettysburg and ventured a little farther to Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia Beach, New York, and Ocean City, Md. I've been to Ohio to visit the amusement parks; Atlantic City, N.J., when I was pregnant and could barely move; Illinois to visit my brother; Stone Harbor, N.J., on my honeymoon; and Florida to visit Disney World on the Fourth of July when it was so crowded I literally had people surrounding me in every direction so I couldn't timberland boots move. In my almost 50 years of life, the only other country I traveled to was Canada. But, that's been OK with me. I'm not the greatest traveler. It's not one of my passions. I'd rather stay home with a glass of wine, relax, snuggle with my husband and watch old Dick Van Dyke reruns. For me, moving from Beaver County to Allegheny County five years ago was a culture shock that I still haven't gotten used to. Now that I have the chance to visit my husband's relatives in California, I find myself having mixed feelings. It's both exciting and nerve-wracking. I have the feeling I'll be like Dorothy in the "Wizard of Oz" when she emerges from the black-and-white timberland uk world of Kansas into the overwhelming and beautiful colors of Oz. It was an entirely different land in Oz, where little people slept in flowers, trees talked and threw apples, a scarecrow, a tin men and a lion sang, danced and cried, a beautiful lady traveled by bubble and monkeys flew through the air. At one point Dorothy looks at her dog and says, "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." I have a feeling California will be my own personal Oz. My husband, who lived there for a few years many years ago, gives me the impression California is somewhat like Oz because it is like experiencing another world. Not only will I be a stranger in a strange land, mens timberland boots I'll also be the new kid on the block when it comes to my husband's extended family. I'll be the featured creature at a big family dinner where I'll meet cousins and an aunt and uncle for the first time and stay with them for a week. Again, I'm excited, yet nervous. During the week, my husband promises a trip into Hollywood, which really has never been on my list of places I feel I have to visit before I leave this Earth. But I'm more than willing to drive through and glance out the window. My husband and his family assure me that once I'm there, my nervousness will diminish, and the family will welcome me with open arms. Just in case there are any flying monkeys, I'll be sure to wear my special red shoes so I can Men 6 Inch Waterproof Boots Sale - timberland tap my heels together three times and head back home.
