Cruz, Laguna, police said Thursday.
Superintendent Marvin Saro, Sta. Cruz police chief, said in a text message that Police Officer two Randy Cosio, assigned in Pakil town, was unloading bullets from his gun at the computer shop he owned in Barangay (village) Santisima at all-around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when it accidentally went off, hitting Cristina Verina, 35, a vendor.
Verina, who was standing about 150 meters from Cosio, was hit in the head and died in a hospital about two hours later.
Cosio immediately surrendered to the authorities and is now under the custody of Sta. Cruz police.
