The Los Angeles Lakers retained the top spot in Marc Stein’s NBA Power Rankings this week. However, Stein lamented the timing of Andrew Bynum’s suspension. “The Lakers held off Portland, sure, but Bynum’s suspension halts the best run of his career,” Stein writes. ”Drew reached double digits in rebounds in seven straight games, after doing so just 10 times in his first 39 games.” Bynum has been huge for the Lakers since the All-Star break, serving as in inside force that makes the Lakers nearly unstoppable down low. With Bynum playing at a high level, Los Angeles has to be the favorite in the entire league to win it all.
The Bulls come in at number two, followed by the Spurs at three. The Miami Heat jumped up two spots, from sixth to fourth,
